Sony Ericsson has unveiled a new batch of software updates for its Xperia line of smartphones. All Xperia phones released this year will be updated to Android gingerbread 2.3.4.
Included in this platform updates are several OEM improvements such as turning the Xperia phone in a “mini-mobile PC” by connecting USB peripherals to the Sony Ericsson LiveDock multimedia station, HDMI support, swipe text input and screen capture. The updates are also equipped with a deeper Facebook integration, which users can share and discover games and apps with friends via Facebook; Google Talk with Video Chat, which for Xperia phones with front-facing cameras works; and the “3D sweep panorama technology,” enabling users to create panoramic images look amazing in to 3DTV.
The software update is expected to be released in October 2011. Sony Ericsson is also set to release of the Xperia neo V (pictured), the first phone with these updates already installed.
